| I hadn't finished my First airplane and I bought another! The next airplane is a Zenith 701. It's a STOL aircraft (Short TakeOff and Landing) that can takeoff in as little as 100' and land in as little as 300'.
Why another airplane? The first airplane is a KR-2S. It is a very fast airplane that is difficult to fly, difficult to get in and out of, and you cant take much with you. The 701 couldn't be more different. It's a high wing, it's Metal, its easy to fly, and has a much higher useful load. The 701 is the closest thing to the Cessna 172 that I could build for less than $40k.
We should be able to complete the entire airplane in less time than it would take to complete the KR2S from where it sits now. Much of the metal aircraft can be built in the garage or basement in sections and be brought to the airport in large sections for final assembly. Because there are no fiberglass fumes or temperature restrictions and the plans are much more complete, we can work on it in our spare time, at the house. |
